Definition of a graphic designer’s job

Graphic design is also called communication design. A graphic designer is a visual communicator who creates visual concepts by hand or using software. They communicate ideas to inspire, inform or captivate consumers through physical and virtual art forms that include images, words or graphics.

The ultimate goal of graphic designers is to make the organizations that hire them recognizable and visible. By using various media, they communicate a particular idea or identity for use in advertising and promotions. These media include fonts, shapes, colours, images, print design, photography, animation, logos and billboards. Graphic designers often collaborate on projects with artists, multimedia animators and other creative professionals.

Each graphic designer is therefore a problem solver and a visual communicator. Each graphic designer is responsible for solving specific communication problems and obtaining specific creative results. But that doesn’t completely answer the question, what is a graphic designer? Why? Why? Because, depending on your role as a graphic designer, you could be:

A Creative Director: You manage a creative team that creates visual elements for product branding, advertising campaigns, etc.

An artistic director: You manage and coordinate the production artists and illustrators to ensure that projects are completed on time and to the satisfaction of the client.

An artistic production manager: You manage the production aspect of artistic creation and creation with an emphasis on improving efficiency and reducing costs.

A package designer: You create and design packaging for marketing and/or products, both in terms of design and physical construction.

Brand Identity Developer: You develop brand identities for various organizations.

A visual image developer: You create images and designs by 3D modeling, photography and image editing.

A visual journalist: Among other things, you create information graphics called computer graphics. This can be for a printed or digital application.

A broadcast designer: You create visual designs and electronic media for use in television productions.

A logo designer: You create the visual expression of the key message or value of the organization. It is also an essential aspect of brand identity. However, in identity design, you carry the logo and design identity for all brand media.

An Interface Designer: You develop graphical user interfaces and generally work for web development companies.

A Web Designer: You create graphics, layouts and pages for websites.

Multimedia Developer: You apply graphic design skills to sound and/or movement.

Content Developer: You create written, graphic, video, audio or other multimedia content according to your brief.

What does a graphic designer do?

Graphic designers combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of web screens and printed pages. They can use various design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects. They develop the general layout and design of production for advertisements, brochures, magazines and corporate reports. Graphic designers work with both text and images. They often select the type, font, size, and colour and line length of titles, headings and text. Graphic designers also decide how images and text will be associated on a page or screen, including the space available. When using text in layouts, they work closely with the writers who choose the words and decide whether the words will be placed in paragraphs, lists or tables.

Graphic design is becoming increasingly important in product sales and marketing. As a result, graphic designers, also known as communication designers, often work closely with people in the fields of advertising and promotions, public relations and marketing. Often, designers specialize in a particular category or type of customer. For example, some create credits for moving images, while others work with the print media and create signs or posters.

Graphic designers must keep abreast of new and updated graphic information and design software, either alone or through formal software training programs. They must be able to create designs that are artistically interesting and attractive to customers and consumers. They produce approximate illustrations of design ideas, either using hand sketches or a computer program.

Graphic designers must communicate with customers, as well as other designers, to ensure that their designs accurately reflect the desired message and allow information to be effectively expressed. Most use specialized graphic design software to prepare their designs. They must be able to think of new approaches to communicate ideas to consumers. They develop unique designs that convey a recognizable meaning on behalf of their clients.

Graphic designers often work on projects with other graphic designers and marketers, business analysts, writers and programmers. They must collaborate to create successful websites, publications and other products. Some people with graphic design backgrounds teach in design schools, colleges and universities.
